From Being the World’s Factory Floor to Developing Global Brands

It is quite common to see billboards of famous brands in airports. But you would be be surprised to note that you would have never seen more than half of the brands that you come across in Chinese airports. This is because they are probably home grown Chinese brands who have not yet made their international footprints. Advertising in airports is really an expensive affair and you can imagine the deep marketing pockets and branding ambitions that these local brands have. It also shows that China is not only the factory floor of the world but has also started developing its own brands, a development path adopted by Korea and Japan many years before. Here are some examples of global brands that originated from China: Alibaba Group, Huawei, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo, Hisense, Haier and Tencent.
