One of the things I did during my weekends in Shenyang was cycling to explore some of the disappearing farms around my residential compound. In one of those trips, I came across couple of street stalls selling fresh produce from the nearby farms. I normally get my groceries from the local wet markets and supermarkets and therefore I did not buy anything from these folks that day. But I tried to have a look at what they were selling and also a bit of a conversation with the farmers. It’s really a tough life for farmers and farm workers, you can see it in their faces. The farms were giving way for factories, business parks and residential compounds.
