A High Speed Coffee Experience

On the way to Changzhou from Nanjing. This is how a cafe looks like in China’s high speed rail travelling at 290 km/h (180 mph). Clean, spacious and modern. And quiet. I cannot remember if the waitress comes to your table to take your order or if you have to order at the counter. Sometimes, during long rail journeys, the kids will be restless and we will bring them here to have a snack. And sometimes its because its just not the destination, the journey also counts, right? But I have to warn you about two things. Firstly the prices are super expensive. Normally you can buy a cup of instant noodles for about RMB 3-5 (USD 0.44 – 0.74). Here they will sell it to you for about RMB 20 (USD 3). Same cup of noodles. The second point is that this place will turn into a bit of a crowded nightmare during holiday peak seasons. Because if you cannot buy a ticket with a seat you can still buy a ticket to stand all the way. And if some people couldn’t get a ticket with a seat or don’t have the budget, they end up sitting around here. Everywhere. Including the aisle. I am not complaining mate. I have done that too.
