One of the food stalls outside Dr Sun Yat-Sen’s Mausoleum was selling steamed black corn and I bought one to try. According to Wiki, corn was first domesticated in Southern Mexico 10,000 years ago, with black corn being a smaller variety developed along the way. And from there, corn went to everywhere in the world. I know that corn and potatoes are like to Westerners as what rice is to Asians: a daily staple food. I think the Chinese use corns more in their dishes than say, the Indians or the Malays, especially in their soup dishes. So I got used to eating corn more after coming to China. And this day I also realised that corn can be black, while in Nanjing.
