When a man has to bath, a man has to bath

Shanghai. Aug 2013

Most of the stall owners in our wet market are from other provinces. Hardworking families living on the edge of poverty. They try to keep long hours at their stalls and to make a little bit more money. So they would have their lunches there, read newspapers there, do their cross-stitching side hustle there and sometimes even take a short nap there. Sometimes their kids would come back from school and they would cook for them a meal on a small stove on a small table there. And on this particular day, to my and my Singapore auntie’s amusement, we saw a small boy having a bit of a bath time there, right outside this mummy’s clothes stall.
