After working and living in Shanghai for five years, I moved to Shenyang in Jan 2014 to become a change manager for BMW Brilliance Automotive, the joint venture of the BMW Group in China. At that time the company had two plants in Shenyang, one in Tiexi and another in Datong and was manufacturing BMW cars for domestic consumption in China. Eventually it would built an additional plant and hire 20,000 people by the time I left it in 2018. My family was still in Shanghai because of my spouse’s career and kids’ school. For me it was a new job in a new city. The change manager will have to go through some change first.
