Shenyang was the capital of Qing dynasty China in the 17th century for a brief period of time. Today, it is a little known industrial city in China. Other than the fact that the BMW Group has based its production plants here, there’s nothing special here. The weather is not exciting either. The temperature drops to -30°C (-22°F) in winter and it is cold most of the year. But when summer comes, Shenyang transforms into an outdoor barbecue paradise. Every inch of feasible outdoor space changes into a barbecue pop-up shop. Just like this place near my apartment. I came here after work most days telling myself, what a great city Shenyang is.
