I hired a tour guide at the Guanmenshan ticketing office while buying the tickets to give me an orientation to the mountain. She was helpful in sharing some interesting pieces of information about the mountain. At one instance, she stopped to pull out a walnut from a fruit. Until then I had only seen walnuts in the supermarkets and so it was interesting for me. Apparently the world production of walnuts in 2020 was 3.3 million tonnes and China was producing 1/3 of that followed by the United States, Iran, and Turkey. I had no idea that I will find this out while walking in a mountain in Benxi.
