Over time, I am able to nowadays compare relatively speaking, living in Singapore (41 years) vs China (10 years) and Australia (3 years). In Singapore busking was always banned but I think they allow it now but you have to do some some paper work with the authorities. In China and Australia, its quite free and easy. One weekend I took a train downtown to Taiyuan Street (太原街) for shopping and saw an artiste performing. He had his dog sitting in front of him as he sang his guitar songs. What was interesting was that he accepted tips from the public via WeChat. You just have to scan the WeChat QR code on the dog and transfer your tips.
