Raita is an Indian side dish made up of yogurt and strips or cubes of cucumber, carrots, onions and coriander. This is the most common South Indian version that I grew up with. Of course there are hundreds of other versions all over India. Raita is a super great dish to have on the side if you are having spicy curries as it has a cooling effect on your body. This particular raita is from the “Indian Kitchen” restaurant that my family and myself used to frequent in Shanghai. However it does seem a little watery though. In fact, I have been to some Indian restaurants here in Melbourne where they also serve watery raita. But I have since learned how to make raita at home. And I make my raita thick and creamy, subconsciously serving out vengeance for all the occasions I was served with watery raita.
