I have mentioned many times before that all public signs in China are in Mandarin and English. This includes roads, buses, trains, airports, hospitals, government offices, parks, tourist attractions, hotels etc. And I would like to offer an actual example of a public road sign in English as above and this happens to be when I was in Nanjing. There are not many amongst the 1.4 billion people in China who can speak English but the government is resolute in ensuring that all public signs are also in English in China. This speaks highly of China’s ambitions of making its cities global one day.
