Although all the public signs in China are in both Chinese and English, other signs are normally in Chinese. For example, if you go to a local wet market or a supermarket, you can expect most of the signs and labels to be in Chinese. In our initial years, we shopped in a Carrefour store in the Gubei area but later started being more local. One of the advantages of shopping in Carrefour, is that, Carrefour being a French international chain, has all its product labels in English as well.
