
On the main road outside the farm, there were large plastic bags of garlics, carrots, potatoes and other vegetables in a wholesale store. One thing to note is that vegetables and fruits in China are much larger than elsewhere. I mean they are really huge. A German colleague once told me that China has 7% of the arable land and with that they need to feed about 22% of the world’s population. One of the ways China manages this is by genetically modifying the crops for a larger yield. So don’t be shocked when you come to China and see vegetables and fruits in XXL sizes.
