The purpose of these hard and heavy curtains hanging in front of shopping centre entrance doors is to block out the winter wind and cold from getting inside. But I cannot imagine the number of times I have battled with these unfriendly curtains to get in or to get out of a shopping centre. You only have them during winter and in Shanghai, this was not very often. But in Shenyang three quarters of the year was harsh winter and I had to get used to it on a daily basis. This particular entrance is to an underground shopping mall. It’s all the same, you have to punch and kick your way through those pink curtains to get in.
