One day I was walking past a public relations event downtown called the “The International Fresh Milk Festival 2014”. Thinking to myself what possibly could be the purpose of this. I later found out that a local dairy company called Sanlu had adulterated its milk products with melamine causing kidney stones and other damages to 300,000 children in 2008. Sadly six babies died. There was a big government investigation, many people were prosecuted and there were other negative milk topics in the later years too. I finally understood that the purpose of such activities was to restore public confidence in local milk brands and products.
