Most of the time these street stalls are mobile and are on a motorbike or a bicycle. You can still find similar stalls in some Malaysian streets but not in Singapore anymore. When these street stalls sprouted in Singapore in the 1960s, the authorities began introducing licensing and hygiene rating processes to control and regulate the hawkers. They do have the same licensing laws in China for proper restaurants but I don’t think for these street food stalls. And if they had, they would be on display prominently. So while street food in China can be fun, cheap and convenient, you have to accept the associated risks as well.
