The restaurant by the river

Business was brisk. There were sitting areas inside and outside the restaurant. But most people were outside, enjoying the views, the cool breeze and the soothing sounds of the flowing river. It was noon time and I was weighing the idea of eating here versus taking a taxi back to the hotel area for lunch. I was thinking about the hygiene and cleanliness situation of this mountain restaurant. I walked into the restaurant still unclear when I realised from the drifting smells in the air, that the people were having barbecued fish. And that’s how one of my most memorable food experiences in all my ten years in China unfolded.
