The truth is that there are a lot of people in China who have left the farms and rural areas and have moved to towns and cities to find a better future, very much like how my dad left his hometown in India and came to work in Singapore in the 1950s. They work in construction sites, restaurant kitchens, clean toilets and roads, work in retail shops and do jobs that the locals shun away from. Men who left their families and mummies who left their children. They work hard to save money to send back home. Sometimes all they can afford is a soya sauce egg and a roasted corn to fill their stomachs on their way to work. I feel for them.
