I stepped out of my eleven-hour flight from Melbourne into Guangzhou Airport. The air was warm and dry. The airport was lit up but deserted. It was unlike the bustling mini-city I was used to before. But it was 4.30am. Early morning passengers were going about their business quietly. In China, the airports are one of the most highly organised and safest places you can find. Strong armed security presence. No nonsense airport rules. And well-managed airport services and facilities. Both in the day and at 4.30am.
