Nanjing is about 2-3 hours high-speed train ride distance from Shanghai. I brought my family there during the public holidays in 2012. It was winter and it was snowing when we arrived. I didn’t know anything about Nanjing other than that it was near Shanghai and that it suffered a lot under the Japanese during World War II. I also read that there was a museum about this in Nanjing but since my kids were quite young at that time, I didn’t visit the museum. The museum was called the “Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders”. But as I was looking through some of the photos on display at the museum online today, I am glad I didn’t make the trip because I don’t think I had the stomach to see it. Dear God, please do not let this happen again to anyone in the world, ever.
