One day I was in downtown for my weekly shopping when I came across a crowd looking at a long banner on a public road. A guy was apparently airing his grievances in public which is not something you do or can do commonly in China. I was surprised that the authorities had not packed him and his communication materials into a car and away. Apparently an old man had unjustly died and this man needed some money to return to his hometown. Maybe it was a money-making scam in broad daylight. I had no idea and I didn’t partake in his fund raising campaign. Its just that its a scene that you never see in China, or Singapore for that matter.
