A Little Bit More Beijing Duck Please

Beijing, 2016

I have walked past this place almost every other day after work while in Beijing. It’s nondescript and in a street that leads to my apartment in just another residential area. However, you can see the quality and professionalism of this place specializing in the famous roasted Beijing duck. Three chefs were carving the roasted ducks into thin slices and plating them, another chef was managing the stone oven while a waitress or fuwuyuan as they call in China was busy bringing trays of duck to the upstairs where I suppose the customers were sitting. The chefs were all professionally attired, had face masks on (this was back in 2016) as well as disposable gloves. This area seems to also double up as a service counter with weighing machines, take away cartons to serve take-away customers. Although I was working in Beijing for a year and walked past this place almost everyday, I don’t know why I only ate here only once and even that was a take-away. Perhaps because it was quite pricey but I also remember that it was absolutely delicious. Looking at the pictures now, I wish I had eaten there more often because its even more expensive now in Australia.
