Prices Go Up for Chinese New Year

Henan, 2015

Normally it is easy to find more pop-up shops than usual during the Chinese New Year time. This gives last minute shoppers an opportunity to buy what they need to celebrate the Chinese New Year. My Chinese friends told me that its usual for the prices of vegetables and meat to go up, nearer to the Chinese New Year. Therefore normally many families will buy the necessary items well in advance and store them. Therefore I can only imagine that these pop-up shops very near to the Chinese New days must be selling at a high price. In the above picture, you can see a pop-up shop selling pork in the streets.
