Beijing had a much more vibrant bar scene compared to Shenyang. Sometimes my colleagues and myself would check out live music scene in Beijing. There were many foreign musicians in the bars but you can also find a lot of talented local musicians. The bars played various types of music styles such as pop, reggae, Chinese, African drums etc. I remember that some of these bars were really small, like this one above where it was quite an experience sitting huddled together in front of the stage.
