What do you think this is? 2016

This photo was taken from one of the small drinks stalls at the Qin Huang Dao beach. If you can’t speak or read Chinese, you might be wondering what is this drink in the centre of the picture. Other than an image of a pear on the label, it will be very difficult for anyone to guess what kind of a drink is this. It sure looks like a typical beer bottle in China or it may as well be white wine or even baijiu. But why place it in between green tea and Sprite? Well, if you were there in person to examine the label closely, you will realise that there wasn’t any alcohol percentage imprinted on the label simply because its not an alcoholic drink. Its just a pear soft drink mate. But still, I think it would be a good idea to learn to speak a little bit of Chinese if you are spending some time in China so that you can ask the vendor what is this drink about. A German colleague once told me that if you are feeling lazy, you can get by in China if you have a vocabulary of 200 essential words. I think he was right because I think that’s alI I had and I made it through 10 years in China. I know its absolutely lame and lazy of me. I should have done better. I will and I promise, when I return back to China. God willing.
