This is not very common but I noticed a shop selling donkey meat in Shenyang one day. The board said that the donkey meat sells for RMB35 (USD5.1) for half a kilogram. Apparently donkey burger is popular in Northeastern China, an area where Shenyang is. I know it looks cruel to those outside China but according to Wikipedia, donkey burgers have been in existence since the Ming Dynasty which lasted from 1368 to 1644. Maybe they don’t really have to put a donkey head out to advertise donkey meat. A board alone might have been sufficient.
