
I lived in China for 10 years. And it’s been 4 years since I relocated from China to Melbourne. Only today have I taken the time and effort to google this: Why do they paint trees white in China? And they always only painted the bottom half of the tree. I mean we are talking about thousands and thousands of trees in parks, along roads and neighborhoods. All painted white at the bottom. And I finally found out today that the reason why they do this is to protect the trees from sun, pests, from blooming early etc. Well, now I know.
