The BMW company has a global continuous improvement program called VPS (Value Production System). I have to say that it was almost a religion especially in the production area. Anyways, one of my roles was to be the lead coordinator for the continuous improvement program for the HR Division which had a few hundred people. The first step I did was to bring all the department managers from the HR Division into a room to ask them what they wanted to improve this year in HR? There were of course many other meetings and discussions but this workshop laid the foundation for the rest of the year.
