There are 2 airports in Shanghai. One is called the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport which is 10-20 minutes from where I live and it takes a taxi fare of RMB 20-30 to reach home. The other one is called Pudong International Airport and from there it takes about 1-1.5 hours and RMB 200 to reach home. The Hongqiao airport can fly you to all domestic locations plus Taiwan, Korea and Japan. Pudong flies you everywhere. I would say these were the major differences between both airports, at least for me. Other than that, Hongqiao airport is a world class airport. Everything is spotlessly clean, all services are highly professional, most staff can speak English and all signages are both Chinese and English.
