Undergarment Advertisements are Rare in China

Beijing. Feb 2011

This is a bra advertisement and I believe I took this photo in the Beijing airport. Actually China is quite a conservative country. A lot of things are not said or done outwardly as its culturally taboo. For example, you don’t often see advertisements or hear commercials in the television about undergarments or other other similar topics. But I guess back in 2011 China was already changing and becoming more modernised in its thinking. But also the fact that the advertisement is using a westerner’s image to promote the product – well an entire book can be written about that messaging strategy, the advertising ethics of it and the cultural implications.
