Live Octopus at Tsukiji Fish Market

Tokyo. Dec 2011

One of my German HQ colleagues was also in Tokyo for the Tokyo Motor Show and we were staying in the same hotel. One night he told me that he would like to go to the famous Tsukiji fish market the next day but the trip had to be made at 3-4am and that he didn’t want to go along. The next day is a working day and we both had to be at the exhibition ground in the morning but I agreed as I was also curious about it. The Tsukiji Fish Market is the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also a big tourist attraction in Tokyo. Maybe this was quite interesting for my German colleague, but I see this everyday in China. Its just that this was much bigger and they held the famous fish auctions. But still, I am not going to wake up at 3am to see a fish market in Japan again.
