This is the Goddess of the Seven Seas Temple or the Tianfei Temple in Nanjing. We visited the temple, lit-up joss sticks and prayed for good health and fortune. The temple was built around 1400 by Emperor Yongle as an offering of thanks to the Goddess for the safe return of Zheng He and his crew from their exploration voyages. According to Wiki, Zheng He’s first voyage’s fleet consisted of 317 ships and carried 28,000 crewmen and they visited Brunei, Java (island in Indonesia), Thailand, Southeast Asia, India, the Horn of Africa and Arabia.
