Shopping. Shopping. Shopping.

Nanjing. Jan 2012

I think China has a crazy shopping culture. Let’s not even talk about online shopping. Just stick to the brick and mortar shops. I mean everywhere you go, anywhere in China, there are huge shopping centres. Each with east and west wings and several floors with adjoining cafes, restaurants and other service and supporting businesses. Each is a shopping cluster. A shopping mini-city on its own. I think you can divide them into 3 categories. Firstly, you have those cheap shopping centres selling budget items with no brands. Secondly, you have those wholesaler type of shopping centres where you have to buy in bulk for dirt-cheap prices. Finally you have those luxury brand shopping centres where when you enter, you start wondering where the hell do people print their money.
