Singapore is an apartment-living country and we dry our clothes on a bamboo pole. When we moved to Shanghai to a house with a front yard, we started drying our clothes there. Looking back, I think this must have been quite unsightly. But we didn’t have a backyard and the front yard was where we had full sun. Also it was a common practice in our compound with other neighbours. But after moving to Australia where we do have a backyard, we dry our clothes there. Also no one dries them at the front of the house.
