Whenever we looked up while in downtown Shanghai, it looked they were building a giant rocket high up in the sky. The Shanghai Tower was designed by an American company called Gensler and is owned by the Shanghai Municipal Government. Its construction began in 2008 and ended in 2014. It is the tallest building in China and the third tallest in the world. I didn’t visit the tower as I relocated to Shenyang to work end of 2013 and there was no chance after that. But I hope to visit it the next time I am in China.
