I found a little shop selling spring rolls in the Qibao Ancient Town. We call it popiah back in Singapore and the Qibao version does look a little different. Unsurprisingly popiah is Teochew, including the name. Though spring rolls started in China, there are many versions today from Vietnam to Venezuela. There are fried ones and steamed ones. They can be hot and spicy or simply sweet. You can have it with eggs, sticky rice or even ice cream, as in Taiwan. This is the world of popiah.
