Wet markets in China looked remarkably the same as Singapore’s

Shanghai. Aug 2013

I was in a bit of a surprise when I first visited the wet market in my neighbourhood in Shanghai. It looked the same as the wet markets in Singapore that I grew up with. One noticeable difference was that it was bigger with more space to walk in between the stalls. The market sold fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, seafood, soya products and meat one one side and household things like pots and pans and brooms on the other side. I always bought from the same stalls so that we know each other, that the prices are good and more importantly they sell me the good stuffs. When my Singapore auntie visited me, I brought her there to have a look.
