I was staying at the elder Mr Liu’s farm. The first meal there was in his huge hall with big sofas, a large coffee table and with walls decorated with Chinese nationalistic propaganda posters. Both the Liu brothers sat with me and offered me a really big welcome meal. They had organised stir-fried green leaves, poached farm chicken, deep fried fishes and a pork dish. I think the food was mainly set-up to go with the baijiu and the conversations. Here the younger Mr Liu is pouring me a glass of baijiu. It was Chinese New Year time. They worked hard the whole year. Their families have arrived from afar. It was time to sit down and relax.
