One of my weekend trip’s highlights to Benxi was to see the five million years’ old water caves, a partially submerged cavern system with stalactites and stalagmites. You can take a ticketed boat ride along a 3 km (1.9 mi) long subterranean river inside and this was something I wanted to try. Once there, I had to queue up and wear a red safety gear. The boat ride was like traversing into a giant monster’s gut. It was really cold, about 12 °C (54 °F), and pitch dark inside with some parts of the cave colourfully lit. I was using a tourist’s disposable camera which was useless inside the cave. And so, these photos are all I got unfortunately.
