I have lived in Shanghai, Shenyang and Beijing for many years and have never come across such a confronting scene. I was in a weekend trip in a small city called Anshan near Shenyang in the Liaoning Province. I was exploring the local market place when I was horrified to see a guy butchering an entire pig on an outdoor abattoir on wheels. I am sure that he is not a licensed vendor and that this is completely illegal. But this kind of enterprises do operate during the holidays in China when the normal markets are closed. But please be rest assured that this is not your everyday scene from China as you can gather from the customers’ faces.
