This is the bank card I was paid my monthly salary in. The bank was called China Guangfa Bank or CGB for short. The bank cards were normally quite simple looking, did not have chips in them and you can’t use them for contactless payments (this was the situation till 2018 and may have changed now). There was one occasion when I lost my bank card. I had to lodge a police report in a police station, grab that certificate and head off to the bank office and after verifying my passport and work permit details, they issued me a replacement card on the spot, over the counter. In Singapore and Australia, they would normally send a bank card by post and it would take about two weeks. In China, a lot of things are done immediately and on the spot, a super efficiency and speed I simply love. In this example it was replacing lost bank cards. More examples later.
