Back in 2011, I was with a German global company called the Schaeffler Group and I was working as the head of corporate communications for the Asia Pacific region based in Shanghai. The corporate communications function was seated under the HR division at that time and my HR boss organised a department retreat to Suzhou, I think about an hour’s bus ride from Shanghai. It was always wonderful to work together with HR colleagues. They were always caring, sensitive and kind. We were there for 2 days and one night and here we are strolling down on one of the Suzhou main roads in the morning with Starbucks coffee in our hands.
