This is a sweet glutinous rice ball filled with sesame, peanuts, sugar and animal fat. It is traditionally eaten during the Lantern Festival in China. It is eaten for good luck and in the hope that it fills people’s life with sweetness and joy. I have always eaten it whenever the season comes almost every year while in China and have always disliked it. The reasons is that I don’t have a sweet tooth. Out of courtesy, I will usually have one ball when offered, say thank you very much and stop at there.
