This is the way

Shenyang. Jan 2014

After relocating to Shenyang from Shanghai, I was staying in a small Ibis hotel in the city centre for a month. After work and dinner, I would stroll around the city centre, trying to get to know my new place. One of the familiar landmarks in Shenyang is the 9 metres (30ft) tall statue of Chairman Mao, founder of the People’s Republic of China. The statue is a monument to mark the Chairman Mao’s leadership and contributions to the country. I was new to Shenyang and I could not read Chinese and I ended up using Chairman Mao as a landmark. If you follow the direction of his hand, it will bring you to the main shopping road downtown.
