During my time in Shenyang, I have strolled by past Chairman Mao’s monument in Shenyang’s city centre many times. Highly visible from afar is Chairman’s Mao’s towering statue but if you were to walk close and examine its base, you will find a huge set-up of 58 statues of workers, peasants and soldiers. The statues tell the stories of the Chinese people under the leadership of Chairman Mao. The monument was build by students from the Art Academy and were supervised by a committee of peasants and workers. Then monument took two years to complete and was inaugurated in 1970. I can only say that they did an excellent job.
